Do you know how to pronounce pączek, which is a donut in Polish? Not sure how to pronounce a with the accent? Is there any sound in English similar to this?

Yes, you are right, donut in Polish language is pączek. It hasn't got this opening in the middle and, when cooked well, it is absolutely delicious 😀

This is actually one of these Polish words that can be pronounced in a two ways. You either carefully read it aloud has it is written and pronounced it as (pączek). That would sound a bit posh an unnatural in a normal conversation.

In real live people would pronounce pączek as (ponczek). This is a typical pronunciation I would recommend using this one.

When speaking Polish, the stress is almost always on the second syllable from the end. In the word "pączek" it will be pronounced with an accent on "ą", although I do not pronounce "ą" as precisely as "on", so the word will be accented with "ponczek". In addition, "pączek" means not only a cake, but also a leaf or flower bud.
