Ciao! 😀There are similarities in many words but there are many between Italian and English as well. What makes people think that Spanish and Italian are quite similar is how similar grammar and overall sentence and words sound are. In fact, an Italian can vaguely understand a Spanish speaker and viceversa in certain topics but they are still two different languages and many words are quite different or they mean something different in Italian.
